Participatory Budgeting (PB) supports you to have a direct say in how funds should be used to support community projects, addressing priorities and positive improvements for the future.
Everyone in the community has the chance to develop an idea, and send in an application for a project based in the community that could be supported by some of the available funding!
Everyone in the community then has the chance to attend an event where each group who is taking part will provide a presentation on their project, and then everyone who is in attendance will vote on which projects they would most like to see supported.
The focus of PB and of this event is to give communities a direct say over securing support for local projects, but also to bring communities and community groups together to raise awareness of what they can be part of and get to know each other.
In this way, the spirit and character of the community can be strengthened in a way where everyone can share experiences, skills and give each other the confidence to work together in the future.
For this to be as successful as possible, it will require community groups to come forward and for members of the community to take an active interest in the process.
We wish the very best of luck to everyone who will be taking part in the projects, and look forward to supporting all the more projects and positive improvements for the community!
